Baby alligator snapping turtles have a fairly strong fasting tolerance; generally, going a week without food will not cause major problems, though exactly how long they can last depends on the turtle’s physical condition and is hard to determine.
For the turtle’s health, the owner should feed it on a regular schedule to avoid prolonged starvation. Juveniles can be fed once or twice a day, each time to about 80 percent fullness; once mature, feeding volume can be increased and frequency reduced to 2 to 3 times per week.
