The Tosa is not a strong guard dog. Though bred as a fighting dog aggressive to other dogs, it is not very wary of strangers and not very loyal, so its guarding is much weaker than Doberman, Rottweiler, or GSD.

To make a Tosa guard, patient training from a young age is needed to build a stronger bond with the owner.
