What happens if a dog eats peanuts?

Expert Answer

A few peanuts cause little harm, but hard peanuts swallowed unchewed may cause indigestion. Small dogs with narrow esophagi risk blockage with drooling, swallowing trouble and wheezing.

Peanuts are high in fat with little benefit, so do not overfeed.
