A purebred Samoyed has almond-shaped eyes and a black nose that may show slight flesh tone as a puppy; the nose should have some width, not too narrow, with black lips often turned upward in a smile.

The coat should be pure white or cream, glossy, medium length, and very dense. Also, a purebred Samoyed has a larger frame.

Mixed-breed frames are generally smaller and less proportional.
