Normally a cat need not have its bottom wiped, because healthy stool is cylindrical and only slightly moist, not sticking to fur. But if the cat goes on beds or sofas, wipe it to avoid passing parasites or bacteria to people. Also, with soft stool or diarrhea that soils the fur, wipe to prevent bacteria and skin inflammation around the anus.
