How can a red-eared slider lay eggs?

Red-eared sliders grow slowly and a female usually starts laying around her teens, but those eggs are unfertilized and cannot hatch. To breed them, keep a male alongside; they will pair and produce from about 7-8 years old. Sliders are prolific, laying 6-11 eggs at a time, up to 30, and breed 4-5 times a year between April and September. Before breeding, boost their nutrition with mealworms and meat to encourage egg production.
