What is the temperament of a Bengal monitor lizard?

The Bengal monitor lizard has a rather fierce temperament. It lives mainly on the Indian and Indochinese peninsulas, is large with a triangular head, moves on the ground but also climbs trees, and eats frogs, snails, snakes and other lizards. Because it is so fierce, some owners abandon it after keeping it a while and release it into the wild; if you meet one in the wild, do not approach or touch it, or it may attack and injure you.
