How to verify if a dog is purebred?

The main way to judge a purebred dog is by observing its appearance and temperament. First, pick photos of the breed online and study features – especially coat color, nose and eye shape and color, ear shape and size, chest width, and limb form. If the dog clearly differs from the photos or its limbs look odd, it may not be purebred.

Second, observe temperament; different breeds differ – for example, Teddy is lively, Samoyed gentle, German Shepherd less approachable. If the dog’s temperament differs greatly from the breed, it may also be impure.
