Why is my dog suddenly urinating frequently?
Expert Answer
A dog suddenly urinating frequently may be in heat or suffering from a urinary-system disease. Male dogs usually start their first heat at 8–10 months and will urinate in small amounts to mark territory — this is normal and needs no worry.
But if the frequent urination persists and is accompanied by low volume, dribbling, painful urination, very yellow and strongly smelling urine, it is generally caused by cystitis, urethritis, urethral stones, bladder-sphincter dysfunction, or prostate disease. Have the dog examined at a veterinary hospital to confirm the cause before treatment.
