Can dogs eat lemons?

Dogs cannot eat lemons. First, lemons contain a high level of citric acid, which irritates a dog’s stomach and can easily cause vomiting and diarrhea. Second, a dog’s sense of smell is very keen while the smell of lemon is very sharp, so most dogs will not willingly eat lemon anyway. In addition, lemons are quite high in vitamin C and are not suitable for long-term feeding to dogs.

If you want to give your dog fruit, it is generally better to offer moderate amounts of apple, banana, pear, peach, watermelon, or papaya. Also note that fruits such as cherry, avocado, and grapes must not be fed to dogs.
