How many days until a hamster opens its eyes?

Hamsters generally open their eyes around 12 days after birth; they may open one eye first or both at the same time. Because breed and nutritional condition vary, it is hard to pin down exactly when a given hamster will open its eyes. Some individual hamsters may not open their eyes until about 19 days after birth, so do not worry too much if it takes longer, and never use your hands to force a hamster’s eyes open, as that can injure them.

If a hamster still shows no sign of opening its eyes three weeks after birth, you may consider taking it to a veterinary hospital for examination and treatment.
