A Labrador will not just accept anyone as its owner. Although friendly and sociable, Labradors are also alert and will not simply follow strangers. They are highly intelligent and remember their owner through smell, sight, and hearing, and will rush forward to protect the owner in danger.

In addition, a Labrador bonds with only one owner at a time. If separated from its owner it may become depressed, sensitive, and stop eating, but after a while it may gradually forget the previous owner and accept a new one.
