A ‘dog bean’ usually means a tick, which attaches to the dog’s skin, drinks blood, and may inject bacteria and viruses that harm the dog. Never pull a tick off by force, or its mouthparts break off in the skin and cause secondary damage.

Spray alcohol on the tick to paralyze it, wait a few minutes, then grip the mouthpart with tweezers and pull it out gently. If there are many ticks you cannot clear, take the dog to a veterinary hospital for help.
