Why is the white of my dog’s eye red?

Redness in the white of a dog’s eye can come from injury, irritants, or ‘internal heat.’ If the dog bumps its eye while playing, the impact causes redness and, severely, even corneal ulcers or perforation.

It can also come from irritants like dust, bugs, or fur. Also, food that is too salty causes red, tearing conjunctiva. For redness, try a pet-specific eye anti-inflammatory; if it doesn’t improve, take the dog to the vet.
