Whether keeping a cat is expensive depends on the owner’s approach. If you only meet the cat’s daily needs and disease prevention, it is not very expensive — monthly spending can stay within a few hundred yuan, mainly on deworming medicine, cat litter and cat food.

Other items like teaser wands, beds, bowls and carriers are necessary but not consumables, so they last a long time; only the early setup costs a bit more. Cat vaccines are usually once a year and not very costly. But if the owner wants premium cat food, buys lots of toys and accessories, or the cat is frail and often sick, the cost rises and it can become quite expensive.
