What are the differences between French and English Bulldogs?

The French Bulldog originated in France and was developed from the Pug crossed with other terriers. It stands about 30 cm tall and weighs only 10 to 14 kg, so it is a small dog. Frenchies have a gentle temperament and a cuter look, which is why they tend to be more popular.

The English Bulldog comes from Mastiff and terrier crosses and is larger than the French Bulldog, standing 30 to 50 cm tall and weighing 20 to 30 kg, making it a medium dog. English Bulldogs are steadier in character, not very active, and fairly easygoing. In appearance, the French Bulldog’s ears stand up while the English Bulldog’s fold down; Frenchies have fewer wrinkles and English Bulldogs have more.
