How can I tell if my cat is constipated?

With normal feeding, a cat usually defecates twice a day, with formed, brown stool. If the cat eats normally but does not defecate for two consecutive days, or only passes a few hard, pellet-like stools, it is likely constipated. When constipated, you may feel a lump-like mass in its abdomen. If constipation is confirmed, stop feeding for a while and give some pet probiotics to regulate the gut, then watch whether symptoms ease. If they do not improve, an enema will be needed to help the cat pass stool.
