How do you remove brown algae from a fish tank?

For brown algae in a fish tank, you can add some algae-eating cleaner fish such as young plecos, balloon mollies, golden algae eaters and bristlenose catfish, all of which eat brown algae and clean effectively. You can also add some Amano shrimp, which also help control brown algae. If these fish and shrimp are not available right away, clean manually: use an algae scraper or brush on the tank, then finish cleaning with filter floss.
