1.5-month-old puppy breathes with a pulsing neck, vomits after eating, and now has trouble walking and keeps falling – what illness is this?

A pulsing neck when a dog breathes usually means a gagging sound during breathing, or a slight bulge of the esophagus or trachea while breathing. Based on your description – vomiting every time it eats and an unsteady gait – the first suspicion is a foreign object blocking the esophagus, or pneumonia caused by eating too fast and inhaling into the airways. Esophageal dilation or an esophageal diverticulum cannot be ruled out.

All of these conditions can cause difficulty swallowing in dogs, but you will need to take the puppy to a veterinary hospital for an X-ray to determine the exact cause. For a young puppy, testing for infectious diseases such as distemper, parvovirus, and coronavirus is also advisable. Feed the puppy a liquid diet and avoid letting it eat too quickly.
